Useful technology for real small businesses.

I build clear websites, connect awkward systems and create practical tools that save time, without selling you more technology than the problem needs.

The person behind the studio

Young Studio is not a large agency.
It is me, John.

I work directly with small-business owners who need technology to be useful, dependable and easier to live with.

Sometimes the answer is a better website. Sometimes it is connecting what you already have, removing a repetitive job or building one small tool around the way the business actually works.

Why I work this way
“My job is not to sell you as much technology as possible. It is to understand the problem and take responsibility for solving the useful part.”John Young · Young Studio
Beyond the website

There is usually more value hiding behind the screen.

Websites remain a very good front door. But the frustrating work inside a business, such as copying, checking, chasing and stitching systems together, is often where the biggest improvement lives.

01
Business automation

Make the repetitive work disappear.

Enquiries moved into the right system. Confirmations sent. Documents created. Reports prepared. The dependable admin happens without somebody copying and pasting it every week.

  • Enquiry → CRM → notification
  • Booking → invoice → confirmation
  • Reminders, documents & reports

02
Bespoke business tools

Small software for very specific problems.

A quoting tool, dashboard, stock system or staff utility can fit the business far better than another large subscription full of things you will never use.

  • Dashboards & admin portals
  • Quoting & job trackers
  • Stock, staff & customer tools

03
Practical AI

AI without the theatre.

Use AI where it genuinely saves time: finding answers in company documents, extracting information, sorting enquiries or preparing routine work for a person to approve.

  • Search internal knowledge
  • Read emails, forms & PDFs
  • Human-approved drafting

The work so far

Two businesses.
Two different stories.

These are not fictional portfolio concepts. They are live websites and ongoing client relationships, shaped around the way each business actually works.

Chapter one · A real client story

Cedarcroft Nurseries

A long-running partnership supporting a seasonal nursery business, its public website and online customer journey.

The situation

Cedarcroft needs one website to support year-round nursery services and a highly seasonal Christmas-tree operation, while remaining manageable as products and opening information change.

What I do

I maintain the WordPress and WooCommerce foundation, make ongoing content and commerce changes, and provide direct technical support when the business needs it.

Chapter two · A real client story

Self Storage North Cornwall

A focused local-service website that helps visitors understand the offer, compare sizes and move towards booking.

The situation

Storage customers need quick reassurance about security, location, access, sizes and price, often while comparing several providers on a phone.

What I do

I put the practical buying questions first, used clear calls to action, and kept live prices and availability close to the decision.

How the work unfolds

A straightforward journey from “something is not right” to something useful.

  1. 01
    Listen

I start with the business, the customers and the thing that is getting in the way.

  2. 02
    Make sense of it

I turn that into a clear structure, an honest scope and a price you can understand.

  3. 03
    Build together

You see the work taking shape in useful stages, with room to question and improve it.

  4. 04
    Stay useful

After launch, I can keep the work healthy and help it change with the business.

The complete offer

One studio for the website and the useful technology around it.

Bring the problem, the half-formed idea or the process everybody has learned to tolerate. We can work out the right-sized next step together.

01

Websites

A clear, responsive site, or a focused improvement to the one you already have.

02

E-commerce & bookings

Confident buying, enquiry and booking journeys without unnecessary friction.

03

Automation & integrations

Repetitive admin removed and the systems you already use made to work together.

04

Bespoke business tools

Focused software shaped around the way your team actually works.

05

Website & technology care

One accountable technical person who keeps the useful parts working and improving.

A technical partner

One technical person who understands your business.

I can stay involved across the website, automations, integrations, domains, email and small development work, keeping the context so every improvement does not begin with another supplier discovery call.

Some clients want a clean handover. Others want one reliable person to call when technology gets awkward. Both are fine.

Honest answers to sensible questions.

Do you only build websites?+

No. Websites are the front door, but I also build small business tools, automate repetitive work, connect existing systems and provide practical ongoing technology support.

Can you help us use AI?+

Yes, where it solves a real problem. I focus on useful, controlled applications such as document processing, internal knowledge search, information extraction and human-approved drafting, not AI for its own sake.

Do I need to know the technical details?+

Not at all. I translate the problem into a practical plan, explain the trade-offs clearly and remain responsible for the technical work.

Can you improve an existing website?+

Yes. I can review, repair, restructure or migrate an existing site where that is more sensible than starting again.

What does a project cost?+

Every job is scoped before work starts. You receive a clear written proposal explaining the work, price, assumptions and any ongoing costs, without a surprise technical shopping list later.
