Acceptable use and media rights

Use Finetic for media you are entitled to store and play.

Finetic is a tool for organising and playing a user-controlled library. It is not a source of entertainment content and must not be used to acquire, defeat protection on or redistribute unauthorised material.

Public legal information

Clear rules and explicit boundaries.

These pages distinguish the software Finetic supplies, the media controlled by a server administrator and the centrally operated services controlled by Young Studio.

02

Prohibited copyright and access activity

You must not use Finetic or a Finetic-operated service to:

  • Acquire, download, capture or import media from an unauthorised third-party source
  • Circumvent DRM, encryption, access controls or another technological protection measure
  • Operate a piracy, torrent, restreaming, rebroadcasting or unauthorised commercial hosting service
  • Make media available publicly or to people beyond the permissions held by the server owner
  • Misrepresent ownership, permission, identity or the purpose of a guest link
  • Distribute a Finetic release, entitlement or installation credential without authorisation
03

Guest sharing remains the administrator’s responsibility

Guest sharing is designed for a deliberately selected title, episode or show with explicit expiry and revocation. Those technical limits do not grant a right to share.

Administrators must use the narrowest appropriate scope, protect links from unintended disclosure and revoke a link when permission ends or misuse is suspected. Source downloads are not part of the guest experience.

04

Security and service integrity

Do not attack, overload, scrape, automate abusive registrations, evade installation limits, share credentials, forge entitlement evidence or interfere with another server. Do not upload or transmit malware, illegal material, exploit code intended to cause harm, or personal information you are not entitled to process.

05

Enforcement and local privacy

Young Studio may investigate reports and restrict centrally controlled evaluation, entitlement, update, support or distribution services where reasonably necessary to address abuse, fraud, infringement, security or legal obligations. Decisions should be proportionate to the evidence and may be challenged through hello@youngstudio.uk.

Young Studio does not routinely inspect private media libraries and this policy does not create a general promise to monitor customer servers. A server administrator remains responsible for the installation and for responding to lawful complaints concerning it.
